For as long as she can remember, Anna Perlin has loved drawing and painting. Although she did not train formally in fine art, she decided fairly early on that she wanted to become a full-time artist. After completing a degree in Textile Design and Marketing, Anna initially worked in retail while continuing to explore her passion for painting. She joined an art society and attended evening art groups, gradually building confidence by exhibiting in local exhibitions and winning several Best in Show awards. These experiences ultimately led her to pursue her artistic career more seriously.
Having grown up in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, Anna’s work is deeply inspired by nature and the British landscape. Her much-loved garden, alongside explorations of figures and urban scenes, continues to influence her artistic themes.
Pattern and colour are central to Anna’s work. She uses both to explore contrasts and cohesion within a painting. After experimenting with various media and printmaking techniques, she discovered a unique way of working with fabric collage and mixed media. This approach gives her work a distinct texture and depth. Anna enjoys sourcing fabrics with interesting patterns, which she integrates and highlights using a combination of paint, pastel, charcoal, and other collage materials. This technique allows her to deconstruct detail while maintaining form and structure.
In 2016, Anna was selected to appear in the second series of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, where she won her heat at Wray Castle in the Lake District and progressed to the semi-finals. The following year, in 2017, she was named Artists & Illustrators Artist of the Year.
